Royal Tour of Jordan: 9 Nights - 10 Days

Day 1: Arrival Amman (D)
Upon arrival at Amman Airport our representative welcomes you with a signage, assists you through immigration and matches with tour leader. Then transfer to Amman hotel, check in, the rest of the day is free. Dinner & overnight at hotel.
Day 2: Amman City Tour (B, L, D)
Start the day with a city tour in Jordan's capital. Amman, already mentioned in the Bible as Rabbath Ammon, is a bustling modern city. The historical places are located in downtown, where we visit the Citadel with remains from the Roman to the early Islamic period. Then we have a round in the Archaeological Museum, housing an excellent collection like several Dead Sea Scrolls. We stroll via the Souq, where you get an idea of everyday life, to the Roman Theatre from 2nd century with 6000 seats. If you like to, you can visit here the Museum of Popular Tradition and the Folklore Museum. After lunch you can choose to visit of the Royal Automobile Museum, exhibiting the classic car collection of the late King Hussein and being the first museum of its kind in the Middle East. Or spend time at Darat Al Funun, the "Home of the Arts", housed in 3 traditional buildings, focusing on art, architechture and archaeology. Dinner and overnight Amman hotel.
Day 3: Amman - Jerash - Ajloun - Amman (B, L, D)
Breakfast, then we head 50 km in the north to Jerash, the well preserved Roman provincial city. You enter the Decapolis city via Hadrian's Arch, see the Oval Plaza, the Cardo, the Nymphaeum, the Artemis Temple and remains of early Christian churches. From here we drive to the Islamic Castle Ajloun built by Sultan Salah ad-Din to protect the pilgrim routes to Mecca. Back to Amman hotel. Dinner will be at the Arabic Restaurant Kan Zaman, housed in a traditional building from the early 20th century.
Day 4: Amman - Bethany - Madaba - Mt. Nebo - Amman (B, L, D)
Today we drive to Bethany beyond Jordan. Here Jesus Christ was baptized by John the Baptist in the Jordan River. You will see several baptism pools, remains from early Christian churches and a new golden-roofed church. From here we drive to the mosaic town Madaba, the biblical Medeba. View the mosaic map of 6th century from the Holy Land in the floor of the orthodox St. George' Church. More masterpieces of mosaic art you can find in the Archaeological Park and we will visit a mosaic school. Next stop of the day is Mt. Nebo, the place where Prophet Moses gazed after 40 years in the desert at the Promised Land and died here. His death is commemorated by an early Christian church. From Mt. Nebo you have a panorama view over the Jordan Valley, Dead Sea and parts of the Holy Land. Back to Amman for dinner and overnight at hotel.
Day 5: Amman - Kerak - Dana (B, L, D)
Today we leave Amman and drive along the King's Way, an old caravan route, to Dana Nature Reserve. En route we have a stop at Wadi Al Mujib, known as Jordan's Grand Canyon, a wide valley with astonishing geological formation. We visit the Crusader castle Kerak built in the 12th century by the Lord of Transjordan. From here it is not far away to Dana Nature Reserve. You stay for overnight at the Guest House in the more than 400 years old village.
Day 6: Dana hike - Petra (B, L, D)
Dana is the largest nature reserve and part of the eco tourism in Jordan. The reserve is composed of mountains and valleys and has an astonishing rich fauna and flora. In the morning we start with a hike - depending from your fitness level easy or moderate - to discover the diverse nature and the impressing scenery. In the afternoon we make our way to the hotel in Petra, check in, dinner and overnight.
Day 7: Petra visit (B, L, D)
After breakfast we start visiting the rock city Petra, built by the Nabatean Arabs more than 2000 years ago. The city reflects the power and freedom of this ancient culture gaining wealth through the caravan trade. From the Visitor Center we walk to the Siq, a narrow gorge, which opens after more than 1 km the view on the beautiful Treasury. Along the Street of Facades we go to the Theatre, the Royal Tombs and Qasr Al Bint. The young at heart can climb on their own the more than 800 stairs to the Monastery El Deir from where you have views over Wadi Arava. Dinner and overnight at Petra hotel.
Day 8: Petra - Wadi Rum - Petra (B, L, D)
In the morning we visit the Brooke Animal Clinic caring about hundreds of horses and donkeys, which are working in Petra for the tourism industry. On site you can hear and see what the charity is doing to improve the life of the working animals. Around noon we drive 1.5 hours to Wadi Rum, one of the most impressive desert landscapes in the world. After lunch in one of the Bedouin camps there, you will see more of the area with its mountains and sand dunes by a 4x4 Jeep tour. Return to Petra hotel.
Day 9: Petra - Dead Sea (B, L, D)
After breakfast we head 2.5 hours to the lowest point on earth the Dead Sea. Check in at your hotel and have the rest of the day at leisure at this unique place. 420 meters below sea level float on the saline water, relax at the beach, or try the beauty benefits of the black mud on its shores. Lunch, dinner & overnight at hotel.
Day 10: Dead Sea - Amman Airport (B)
Breakfast, dependent from flight time transfer to Amman Airport to say farewell and board your flight.
