This combination tour of Jordan and Syria offers you highlights of ancient civilizations. Starting in Jordan you follow the caravan route, the King's Way, to the rock city Petra. After visiting Amman and Jerash, travel in the north to Syria where the black basalt city Bosra, the Hellenistic Apamea, the capital Damascus, the famous souqs of Aleppo and the legendary Palmyra will be discovered.

Day 1: Arrival Amman |

Upon arrival to Queen Alia Airport our representative will meet and assist you through immigration procedures. Transfer for 30 min. to hotel in Amman for overnight. |
Day 2: Amman - Madaba - Mt. Nebo - King's Way - Kerak - Petra (B) |
|
After breakfast we drive to Madaba, to view the famous mosaic 6th century map of Palestine in St. George's church. We proceed to Mt. Nebo, the place where Prophet Moses gazed at the Promised Land. You visit the old monastery and overlook the Jordan Valley, Dead Sea and parts of Israel. Along the famous biblical caravan route, the King's Way, we drive to the Crusader castle in Kerak. Proceed to Petra for overnight. |

In the morning you start the full day tour to the red rose rock city Petra, the biggest attraction of Jordan and on of the New Seven Wonders of the World! Petra was first established around the 6th century B.C. by the Nabataean Arabs, a nomadic tribe who settled in the area and founded a commercial empire. They left magnificent buildings carved in the sandstone, you will discover today. On horse back you ride to the narrow canyon, the so-called Siq, and then walk to the most beautiful monument: the Treasury. Go on to the Street of Facades, see the Royal Tombs and Pharaoh's Castle. Day 4: Petra - City Tour Amman (B) |

We leave Petra and drive back to the capital Amman. Here you visit the Citadel with remains from 3 different periods, the Archaeological Museum and the Roman Theatre from 2nd century in downtown where you get a glimpse of everyday life in the Souq. Overnight Amman. |
Day 5: Amman - Jerash - Syrian Border - Bosra - Damascus (B) |

Then we drive in the north of Jordan to Jerash, the best example of a Roman provincial city in the whole Middle East. We visit the spectacular Forum, Roman Colonnaded Street and Artemis Temple. Overnight Damascus. Then, further in the north we cross the border to Syria, where you will be met by our representative and transferred to Bosra. The city was the Roman capital for the Arabic region. We see the remains of temples, palaces, high columns and mosques made of dark basaltic stones. Highlight in Bosra is the magnificent amphitheater dating back to the second century. Transfer to Damascus hotel for overnight. |
Day 6: Damascus - Maaloula - Apameia - Aleppo (B) |

Maaloula is a rocky village located in Al Qalamoon mountains, which houses cling on hills of limestone. The old Aramaic language is still used here and we visit the famous monasteries St. Sergius and St. Tekla. Next stop is Apamea wit its charming ruins, old houses and big churches dating back to the 5th and 6th centuries. Transfer to hotel in Aleppo. |
Day 7: St. Simeon Basilica - City Tour Aleppo (B) |

Today you visit the St. Simeon Church honoring the Christian saint Simeon who lived over 30 years on a pillar. Back in Aleppo we view the Citadel, the biggest, oldest and most impressive monument in Aleppo. The Citadel is situated at the center of the city on a hill about 40 meter high. We also visit the Great Mosque, the Aleppo Museum, suqs and khans. |
Day 8: Aleppo - Hama - Crac des Chevaliers - Palmyra (B) |

We drive to Hama to see the popular waterwheels, and further on to Crac des Chevaliers. This is the most famous Crusader castle. It stands proudly on a volcanic crater and overlooks the Bekaa plain, Homs and Lattakia. Drive to Palmyra for overnight. |
Day 9: Palmyra (B) |

Start your visit of ancient Palmyra, located in an oasis, and Syria's most famous tourist attraction. Amongst other monuments you view the castle, the theater, the Nabu Temple, the Temple of Bel, the supreme Palmyrene god, and tombs. Overnight in hotel. |
Day 10: Palmyra - Damascus (B) |

After breakfast and a leisurely morning, drive back to Damascus, check in at your hotel. Rest of the day is free. Overnight in Damascus. |
Day 11: Damascus City Tour (B) |

On your today's program will be the Azem Palace, a jewel of 18th century Damascus architecture, the Umayyad Mosque and Salah al-Dins mausoleum. Besides you visit the ancient Hananya Church and St. Paul's Church, which marks the site where St. Paul escaped from the city avoiding persecution. You visit also the famous Suq Hamidiyyeh.
